If it's any help to you, I just had an SEAI fella out today to survey my house for the Warmer Homes Scheme and I'm only eligible for that because I have fuel allowance (ie. am on benefits), and I own the house (although I think it can be 'privately owned' whatever that means) - The warmer homes side of the SEAI (which is a full grant towards the insulation ) covers draught excluding the windows, cavity wall filling and attic insulation. It used to do more, but that's all they do at the mo I think. The other scheme is probably the part-pay one that covers a lot more different upgrades to your home, but I couldn't put anything towards a grant so couldn't go for that one. Link to homepage - maybe ye found it already :Dhttp://www.seai.ie/Grants/Warmer_Homes_Scheme/

    Hi,
Thanks for the reply, do you mind me asking did you have to pay for him to come out and survey your house?

    Thanks

No mate, don't mind you asking....I didn't pay for that - I just rang up the SEAI and asked to be put on the list for the Warmer Homes Scheme cos I met the criterea of being on benefits and fuel allowance and I own my home. I'm not sure what happens when you're renting - if it's a council house or whatever? It took a year and a half of me waiting patiently, then ringing to find out where I was on the list, then finding out the company they had registered me with to do the work didn't know they were doing my area, then.....there's a lot more hassle. Finally got a surveyor last week. My advice for you is to register if you can, then follow it up quicker than I did and find out what's going on with your application. It won't happen overnight though....this is a broke country and not just because of the likes of you and me eh?
