I just had to perform a clean install of Lion, (HD died suddenly), and when I connect my iphone to the latest version iTunes it causes it to hang. Its been like this for a good 45 mins. iPhone isn't showing a sync in progress message.

My time machine backup doesn't contain my iphone backup for some reason.

Any ideas?
