Just to be clear. Are you saying that FF are canvessing for Gallagher or that some people who happen to be FF members are canvessing for Gallagher?

Do you mean were they wearing FF rosettes and singing FF songs ?

    I don't know .

I was hoping someone on here had been canvassed by the ffers and could tell us

I was out in Dub west a week or so ago and a FF canvaser approached me about the bi-election. I told him I was just visiting the constituency and wasn't registered to vote in the bi-election for his area. He proceeded to give honourable mention to Sean Gallagher then for the presidential election. He wasn't singing but he was wearing a FF rosette. Also apparently people should vote for the FF'er in Dub west bi-election because he's a "young guy". couldn't get any other reason out of him tbh.

I presume the unspoken logic there is that he wasn't incompetent and corrupt like the Bertie generation, or the Haughey generation before that. Surely the next generation of Fianna Failure will be honest and competent?

    proof ?

Proof of what ??? That posters on politics.ie posted that they had FF calling to their door???

Or proof that they were FF .?

    I'm confused

This thread was to ask people if they were canvassed by FF.

Like the Turner cartoon in the Irish Times today. FFA - Fianna Fail Anonymous. "Hello, my name is Sean, and I'm a fiannafailer".

Inspired by the Church, much revenue could be raised if previous FF voters could purchase indulgences to purge their guilt. You'd pay more if you were a lifer compared with someone who just tried it once and didn't inhale :D

no ff canvassers have been seen in Limerick so far,any ways ,they don't have the money,if they are doing it,not at request of ff so im told, as a local ff Councillor lives near me and that what he said off the record.

From Bruce Arnold in todays independent

In the case of Sean Gallagher, he has totally misrepresented his position, accepting covert and organised support from the Fianna Fail Party while at the same time concealing this behind a pretence of independence.......................
As has been reported, Fianna Fail canvassers from the last election have been canvassing for Gallagher in Cork.

If you say this thread was to ask people if they were canvassed by FF, why not change the title of this thread?

Gallagher has said it himself that he was in FF, nothing revealed in this thread is going to shock anyone, change the record please.

Has he said when he left? How many different dates has he given so far?

How do you definitively leave a political party anyways? He was in it, he's gone now, that's all that matters. If you don't like the guy attack his policies, arguing over semantics does no-one any favours.

Eh, this is a presidential election, the President doesn't have policies.

I'm attacking his character and his record. He jumped ship from FF as it went down, and now he's pretending to be an Independent. Sorry, Séan, you were a FF insider in January, and you are still.

    I'm out.

now that you mention it I would like to attack his policy on dishonesty

Every candidate has their ethos, Gallagher is pro-business, Dana wants to protect the constitution, Michael D wants to re-define what it is to be Irish etc. Perhaps policies was the wrong word but each candidate can bring a certain flavour to the office. That and their fitness to uphold the duties of the role are what they should be judged on.

Mary McAleese is regarded as being a fine president despite her being the FF candidate, why would Gallagher be any different? If he had left Fianna Fail a year or 2 years before he did would his presidency be any different?
