Microsoft Excel 2010 weird formulas

Im a bit stumped with this one. For some reason when i input a formula it shows the info as columns rather than cells. It would be much easier if it was in cells when it comes to editing the formulas.

This is an example of on of the formulas
    =IF([@Column17]="","",([@Column17]))
Column 17 should be X18 really.

Would appreciate if anyone has an idea.

Is this formula in a table of data that you have formatted, or applied a filter to, before you added the formula?

When I use "Format as Table" in Office 2007, I can create formulas like this:

    =Table1#This Row],[A*Table1#This Row],[C

Yeah they are in a table actually. Do you know if there is a way of switching it back?

    Thanks btw

Select the table, then click on Table Tools > Design. then under "Tools" select "Convert to Range"

Sounds like you haven't defined or formatted your ranges completely - If you could post a sample workbook, I'm sure someone could advise

Yup - I am hating the new excel too - old one was alot more intuitive with graphs.

When this happens to me I do the following.

    1. Select chart.
    2. Right click on chart (you might be able to go straight here.
    3. Choose "Select Data"
    4. X axis: Select "Edit" under Horizontal (Category) Axis Label.
I normally also have to select the Legend entries as well on the left here - just be careful when selecting them.

Sometimes just hitting the "Switch Row/Column" can fix things - but more often than not I have do follow steps 1 to 4 above.
