sick leave entitlements

    hi just quick question maybe some one can answer it for me. last year i was off work sick for six month. i was paid as normal and taxed and paid all the levies as normal. just wondering is there anything i can claim back from revenue. social welfare paid my employers directly.

    As you were paid as normal by your employer it is possible that your tax situation worked out okay .
    However , you should apply for a P21 from tax office and claim all tax credits and allowances you are entitled to.
    some of the basic ones you may qualify for are :
    work expenses , union contributions - doctors / prescription costs , wheelie bin charges etc .

    Illness Benefit payable for the first 6 weeks of each year is exempt from tax

    This quote above from Revenue is crucial , and may decide your entitlement to a refund .
