    Hi

I own a iphone 4 battery case which is just a case for the iphone but it has a battery lined inside the case.

this is made for the iphone4 but since the iphone 4s has the exact same look it will just work for the new iphone right?

The mute and volume buttons are in slightly different positions so it will depend on what the cut out for them is on the case

One problem with your theory. Apple don't make the cases*. They don't care if you never buy one again.

    * except the iPhone 4 bumper - which will fit both models anyway :)

obviously a minor change but enough to make people buy new cases....you can rest assured apple get a cut out of certain brands..

    Like which ones?
I'm sketpical that they move them for that reason.

The buttons have only been moved by a couple of millimeters. Apple had to move them to accommodate the new dual antennas. Most cases will still fit provided they have a large enough opening. And the only cases Apple care about are its own. Third-party cases are a way for resellers to make money.

Do you honestly think that Apple just allow Belkin etc free rein to make money from cases for the iphone? You can rest assured that companies like Belkin pay a cut to Apple for early access to the new iphones so they have cases available from day 1.
Lots of tech companies work like this but Apple really have it sown down.

I'm never said that Belken don't pay for a first look. Maybe they do, maybe they don't its not important.

I said Apple didn't move them simply to alter the cases.
For a start most cases still fit. If that was the reason, a whole new formfactor would be more profitable for apple.
There is a cost involved with moving the buttons, the cut that belkin might not cover.

Belkin could of altered existing cases in the last week or so. Not a big deal for them
