went for an sti test and have been asked to come back to give more bloods...bit freaked out over it, doctor mentioned if there's any admin mess up they won't do the blood test and it has to be resubmitted, but just wondering if the test might show up something else (cancer obviously being on my mind) or will it only give results for the sti's checked for?

Your blood will only be tested for whats requested, forget about cancer or anything like that.

They only check bloods for what they are told to test for so only STI tests would be run in your case. There was probably some screw up with the sample (e.g. labelling error, it got misplaced, storage problems, or some such thing).

If you're worried you have cancer, you really should tell your doctor about it.

As for the bloods, there was probably an administration error or an inconclusive/contaminated result. Nothing to do with your health.

If the bloods sat too long between the surgery to the lab to testing it may have started coagulating so may not have been ok to test. Or the results may have been unreliable.
