Mounting suggestion for rear light?

Normally use an Ortlieb rear bag so not possible to mount a light to it.
It would also obstruct the light if I had it on the seat tube.

Anyone know of any light brackets or adapters that'll fit to the seat rails?

    I use two of these:

One one each seat stay. They're just about small enough to hold onto the seat stay, but super-bright as lights go.

i was looking at fibre flares (30% off on wiggle at the min) to fit to my rear seat stay, but it's a bit long for my commuter (has canti brake bosses)

might do the trick for you, they look pretty good

edit: just saw you want them on seat rails, sorry!

A lot of manufacturers include a stay mount as well as a seat mount with their lights. I have a few Smart lights and they've always come with a bracket such as the one below:

I'm not fond of those knog frog and other small lights taking CR2032 batteries. Can't get rechargables and the batteries are pretty expensive...

I agree, but I buy in bulk and it saves cash.

Buy ten of them (so 20 batteries) for £15. Would cost about €50 to buy that many in a shop. I still have 3 pairs of batteries left over from last year.

Still relatively expensive when a rechargeable light is so cheap, but the knogs themselves are brighter than your standard smart 3-led yoke, and nice and neat.

Ha! And just as I was about to post a link to what appears to be an even cheaper offer from the site seamus linked to. Not the cheapest one any more.:) Here it is anyway.

Does that work out at 60 batteries for £15?

Time to book a christmas stall on Henry Street!

Do you have a rack or is it some sort of saddlebag? If a rack, mount on that, at the back. Smart and Cateye both do rack mounts. If your rack won't take that you can get a little metal arm that clamps onto the rack and that you can screw a standard light mount onto. Made by EDGE in Germany IIRC. The seatstays are too low and obstructed by the wheel. If seatstays are the only option go with two, one each side.

Cheers folks.. Seems like one on each seat stay might be best.

Does the Ortileb bag not have a loop on the back (strapped horizontally) that you could stick a smart light with the belt clip on?

No, Have a Topeak Wedge and it's perfect for my clip on smart.
The loops in the Ortlieb are useless:

I would have imagined there was a product out there for the aero bikes with irregualar shaped seat tubes to mount on the saddle rais. Just havn't come across anything (all the Triathlon forums seem to use cable ties as a crude substitute)

I'm not sure if you missed, or ignored my previous post, but these are ideal for your situation. They don't pose the same issues as the Knog lights either, which have poor visability from an angle & have limited mounting oportinities.

The Cateyes can either latch around a tube or mount as you require.

Looked at them, looks like a good idea for mounting on the helmet but looking for a proper rigid mount (bungee cord.. Yeeeeuch;))

I'm telling you, the cateye mounts are the way too go. 3000km with mine and they haven't moved yet.

Like this one (a smart one but same principle):

Basically from what I can see, unless you stitch a loop on yourself then there is nothing to hold the light with

EDIT: Just relooked at the wiggle link, you could clip one or two SMART lights onto the buckle strap with relative ease as far as I can tell but I'd actually have to see the bag in person
