Just Completed Two Year Graduate Programme

    Hi,

I just completed a two year graduate programme with the company i'm currently with. in fact the programme seems to be dragging on forever. i am getting frustrated with the company im with and have recently started looking for a new job.

I got offered another graduate program with another company over two years. The money is the same and i worry does it show a lack of career progression.

The company i am currently with have no intention of offering me a pay rise and chose to ignore me completely for the last two months when i brought up the subject, and i right to be pissed of due to the fact that they ignored me i looked for a pay rise and have just fobbed me of.

the issue of not getting a pay rise isnt the issue for me, i just dont like the fact they pretend as if i never asked.

My real question is it going backwards if i go through another graduate programme again.

Please give me advice as i have to let the new company know whether i will take there job offer or not

Now that you have experience, have you looked at applying for regular jobs? I would only do another grad program if it is an area you really want to work in and you will develop new skills, otherwise the new company is just getting a bargain, an experienced person willing to work for graduate pay.

Don't under sell yourself, 2 years experience is good in any field and should lead you to the next stepping stone. You could accept the grad program to have a job but keep applying for other jobs at the same time.

To be honest, the fact you have been offered another graduate programme you should nearly take it up so you get more work experience I know you'd like progress more in your career but you have to start on the bottom ladder in order to work your way up. You are still technically a graduate?! A graduate will only earn so much and progress so much unless you have been working for more than two years like!?

Don't miss this opportunity while you have the chance. Experience is key in this regard and in this recession get as much work experience as you can, you can progress in the next few years these take time so give it a go at least and see how you feel about it, you can always give it up if you wish but think you should grab the opportunity with two hands it might be the making of your career you never know until you try! Not many people get an opportunity the second time round! So take the risk! What have you got to loose!?

I agree with Tieko, take the job and still apply for regular jobs, it keep you going until something else comes up! Good luck.

I don't know what it's like in Ireland, but where I come from if you're still in the grad programme at the end, as opposed to having found a job along the way, then you'd be considered to have effectively failed the programme.

What are your options if you don't take the next grad programme? How many real jobs have you applied for?
