    Moving to Sky from UPC.
There's a UPC dish on me chimney - UPC say they won't be taking it back.
Sky say they won't touch other company's equipment.

What to do with the dish is the question ? Could it be used for something else ?

    You mean an MMDS aerial?

There is no other use for these.

Im thinking of availing of the UPC package for tv, phone and broadband and moving from Sky. I was with UPC 2 years ago when the TV box was always sticking, is the box still bad?

I've had UPC for the past 15 months. No problem with the box.

AFAIK, all UPC equipment remains the property of UPC. Send them a letter by registered post informing them that you'll be charging them a storage fee of €5 per day until they collect it from you.

I am in North County Dublin, but despite the locale having UPC Digital, for some reason the cabling was never completed to my house and I've had to make do with MMDS. Anyway for various reasons I have cancelled it in the past 30 days and the boxes are due to be collected shortly.

I will probably switch to Sky in the run up to the Christmas Period.

However, I was just wondering, as I had multiroom with UPC (and I don't intend/can't afford to get Sky "Whole Home"), is it possible to use the UPC cabling from the MMDS aerial to view FTA channels? I tried to put one of the connections into an old sky box and directly into the TV at the weekend but got nothing - I assume therefore that it's not possible but was wondering anyway?

    Thanks

I have 3 boxes, all are acting up, with seom channels stcikgin / freezing...

Been onto UPC who said they would send a boost down the line, made no difference, then had logged a service call for last Saturday, they didn't show up. When I call to ask why the no show, they said they had fixed the problem and sent em a text. I got a text alrght but issue not resolved...

So yesterday spoke with Sky in local shopping centre, and got great price (i think)

4 boxes, (one is Sky+) and installed for €206

Update : contacted Sky directly and got 4 boxes, (one is Sky+) and installed for €168, and first month free, €50 to friend who referred me, and half price multi room for a year

Once the subscription goes, the UPC MMDS aerial is useless to you unless you want to mess about with trying to broadcast Wifi links to somewhere a couple of miles away.

You could use the cable in place to swap in a regular TV aerial which can be cheaply got, and that will work for picking up Saorview?
