Hi all have been tasked with purchasing 2 desk top machines for a works office.

    I5 processor
    4gb ram
    500gb hard drive
    Microsoft office professional
    Microsoft windows professional

I know people on here can self build but don't think this will be a runner with company regarding warranty etc.

Had a quick look at Elara but can anyone give any advice of best place to purchase. Budget for each p.c. excluding software €500 - €800.

    Thanks for any help

Best thing to do is to start with the usual suspects.

    Dell
    HP
    IBM

With Dell, go onto their website, Linky, get a price and see how it compares. Their business class PCs are the Optiplex's and the Precisions are the workstation class units.

HP and IBM tend to go through resellers. Lookup the nearest one in your area, explain what you're looking for and ask them to send you on a quote. Most will be more than happy for the new business in the current climate.

Microsoft Office is a standard price no matter where you go, but some might do a deal if you buy the whole package from one location. Figure out which MS Office version you require based on the applications packaged with each version and go from there. Linky here

If you have any questions, drop me a PM as I do a lot of the IT purchasing for the company I work for and can point you in the right direction.

regarding the amount of memory you have chosen
5gb is unusual as you would either go for 4gb or 6gb depending on the motherboard because they may need to be put in numbers of 2 or 3 modules
If you are going for more than 4gb of ram you will need Windows 64 bit otherwise anything above that won't be recognised and even at that only about 3.5 gb will be recognised with Windows 32 bit
