Pornography in the UK

Four ISP in the UK are blocking pron sites in an effort to stem the sexualisation of children. People can opt in by asking the ISP to let them view these sites. What do we think AH? Genuine attempt at sensible internet policing or another stab at taking control of something they don't yet own?

Opt in... you should have to opt out! I wouldn't want to have to call to say "hi, yea I'm just trying to fap here and there seems to be an issue... yes please re engage the filth."

Its not that hard to click "Yes" to a box when you sign-up to a service provider (or return later to do same).
Just like where some countries adopt a principle of automatic opting in rather than out when it comes to allowing body parts to be taken from you upon death - its a choice that you can easily say "Yes" or "No" to.

Its not rocket science and its just yet another life option set on a default that can be easily changed if wished.
If Ireland did it here, it wouldn't bother me and I certainly wouldn't get hot and bothered about it.
Its not as if they are espousing a policy that its bad, they are leaving something turned off till you want it on!

Usually, the people in charge of this stuff don't have a clue what's going on.

who came....ahem.. up with the good idea to opt in? now some lad /lass on the phone is going to personally know that I'm into my porn. and it will be noted in my client file for all to access. excellent.

again, its the parents who should be looking after their children, not some nanny state.
