Hey, as they say there is some kind of new rules after 24th I think. Problem is that I have learned fully all questions of 4th edition and there is no more places to rebook before 24th. Where can I get 5th edition so that I can learn it?

    Hi,
The Fifth edition is available in the book shop 'Easons' at O connel street.
The CD/DVD version of the test wasn't there last week, may be available this week.

Sorry to hijack but does anyone know how much of a difference there actually is between editions. I'm guessing if you know the answers and know why that is the answer havn't just learnt it off you should be ok studying a previous edition for the newer tests.
Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on this?
It quite annoys me that this study material isn't made available freely online a pure example of money making racket.
Its the bus test I'll be going for too so my question is kind of in relation to that.

I'm not sure about the difference between the 4th and 5th edition, but in general they don't change too much - just a few questions are updated, etc.

I think the difference between the 3rd and 4th edition was only an update in 10% of the questions.

If you think the theory test is expensive, wait until you start driving :P
I don't know anything about the bus theory test, sorry. But if it was me, I'd usually prefer to have the most up-to-date study material possible, just to maximise the chances of passing!

    Hi guys,

Have my test on Tuesday (so before the 24th October). Am I right in thinking that the material I need to study is the 4th Edition, May 2009?

Or has there been an updated 4th edition since then?

Possibly a stupid question as you would assume that an updated 4th edition would be a 5th edition, and that isn't out yet. But I'm just making 100% sure!

    Thanks.

i have the new book as my test date is Nov. Layout is very different , the questions only show you the right answer and not the other 3 incorrect answers. and they also give you a short explanation for the answer. as far as i can see theyve left out the more stupid questions. (but im only half way through)

Really hope i pass as its so expensive to try again :(

    Good luck to everyone else

Only 10% doesn't sound too bad cheers for that, luckily expense of driving isn't really an issue as will just be possibly driving a minibus for a college club, i've to pay towards getting the licence though.

I'm trying to get the newer one from the library so will see, might just have a look at one in a bookshop sure and see can I see any major change, I'll keep doing the 3rd edition tests that I have anyway

They only give the right answer? That's..unfortunate, the upcoming update motivated me to book my test before the changeover, as I had the 4th edition book. Also, I could only get my hands on a 2nd edition CD, as the 4th edition don't appear to be sold anymore, but I found it really useful anyway (passed my test today), so to anyone who can't get a current version CD, an older version is definitely worth a look.
