    Hi guys,

I seem to be having problems trying to delete material of a DVD.I just want to erase the films I have on it and make a new one. It's not letting me format it as it's saying "The disc is not erasable", surely I can do this??.

    Cheers.

You can only do it if the dvd is a rewritable format, I.e. Dvd-rw.

You cannot do this with standard dvd+r or dvd-r.

If it's not an RW (rewritable) you can use this, only RW's can be written twice or erased (written blank)

This is the only guaranteed way of securely erasing a disc:

Seriously though, most home shredders come with a DVD slot that will shred the disc.

As said above, you probably have a DVD-R, not RW, so there's no way of using the disc again.
