Could anyone take the time to let me know how to get photographs off my HTC Desire S on to this site. I have lots to post and plan to stop grovelling to my son to do it.

My phone has access to internet.

In the event that I get this working ,is it best to post photos or links to same as I often see done. I ask this question in relation to a continuing restoration job taking place.

    Thanks

    Rugbyman

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

It depends a little bit on your phone. Do you know how to transfer the pics from your phone to your computer? If so, it would make it a bit easier to explain:

Once they are on your computer, it's pretty easy. Start a new thread in classic cars. Do you see the button "manage attachments"? Click on it and it lets you upload files from your computer

This is the easiest way that will give you links to your pictures

It is a little bit harder to actually show the pictures in your post. Once you have uploaded all your files, choose "close this window". Then you will see all your files as links just above the "manage attachments" button. Open one of the links in a new window. Then in your browsers address bar, copy the url (link)

Back in your post, click on the little icon above where the post is that looks like a postcard. In the dialog box that comes up, just paste in the url (link) that you've just copied

I know it looks a bit daunting when you haven't done this before, but trust me, it's easier than it looks!

Good luck with it and if you can't get it to work, I'm sure we will be able to help you :)

Is it possible to resize photos that are uploaded through the boards uploader ? Just don't want to stretch some peoples screens!

I installed a little program called Image Resizer for Windows.

Once installed (only takes a few mins) any time you RIGHT-CLICK on a photo on your PC it offers you the option to resize it. It then just instantly creates a smaller sized (dimension and filesize) copy of that image beside the original.

    Download it here.

I then upload my smaller images using this really simple and free uploader. It spits out your image on the internet and you just grab the URL of it and use the insertimage.gif button. :)

Rugbyman: you should yake the time out to open an account with someone like photobucket.com and practise loading the photos up via that site.

It has the advantage that being a website you can view and work your own photos on any computer in the world.

I'd be in the same boat as yourself, totally computer illiterate but I persevered at it for an hour one day and got it sorted. It automatically sorts the sizes so they come up here at a nice size.

You'd probably be better off getting your son to give you a hand some day to do this. The trick is you do it, he sits beside you and tells you how to do it. Once you've done it a couple of times it will come naturally (a bit like double de clutching ;)).

I use Photobucket all the time, very easy to use and quicker to post pictures in multiple locations if you're a forum tart :D

I resize big pictures before uploading to speed it up using the resizer Dades linked to but it's for XP only, doesn't work for Vista/W7 though

Photobucket is my preferred choice too, I also run the iPhone app which saves uploading to the PC and then onto Photobucket, it's reasonably quick too.
Best thing to do is spend awhile playing around with it, you will pick it up in no time.

Actually I've used that little program for years ,from Vista right up to 7, now. :)

Just download the version for whatever operating system you have. There a few variations that all do the necessary.

I personally find Photobucket sloooow (to upload and to view other people's pictures) which is why I use the really simple http://wthax.org/ option.
