How to get to DCU from NUI Maynooth avoiding toll on m50

I'm looking to get from Maynooth to DCU without paying the toll. It's 3.60 so if I was to go that route twice a day I'm looking at 7 euro! does anyone know of any other route that would get me there while at the same time not adding too much time to the journey?

Drive "cross country" to Dunboyne via the R157 and then onto the M3 (N3) to the M50 J6. It will be a longer journey than via the tolls - time taken as opposed to KMs

Is the toll not €2.50 for video registered vehicles and €2 with a tag? No need to pay €7/day. Or take the train to Drumcondra and a bus to DCU.

Alternatively, head in the N4 and then up through the Phoenix Park.
After that, either head out the Ashtown Gate and across the train crossing at Ashtown and up the back roads to DCU or head out the gate by the North Circular Road and head up that way.

Bear in mind that there is a one-way system in operation in the Phoenix Park due to the reconstruction of the main Chesterfield Avenue.

Oh my link if viewed on PC should give three options one with tolls one via m4 and n4 and the other via Dunboyne.

Get the train from Maynooth to Drumcondra and get the 13 bus, that'll leave you at DCU and since the changing/merging of the 13/13a the buses are much more frequent.

If you absolutely want to drive, there are several routes I can recommend:

Travel time wise you're looking at an hour in the morning given you're going with traffic, maybe 50 minutes some of the backroad ways. I commuted (albeit from DCU area to Maynooth) for over a year, those are the routes that served me best that avoided the quays too

You can also take the 11 from Drumcondra Station.

Maynooth take the left going to dunboyne, simple enough at dunboyne head to dublin and at the blanch interchange take m50 to ballymun exit then down to DCU

Going via lucan back fo the phoenix park/potterstown, to blanch, the road is a bit more wind-ey

Arrow/Irish Rail to drumcondra and 11 directly, or 16, 41, or 3 to collins ave then 5/10 min walk.

That second route - the road is brutal.
