I see this post on the Facebook blog but no sign of it in the App Store. Must be a slow rollout, any one get it yet?

Woops, its actually an update to the existing iphone app, just getting my update now :)

Yeah this is the official Facebook app now. Available as an update to the iPhone app.

My iPhone app has stopped working on my iP4 now. Deleting and reinstalling to see if that helps.

Just updated it on 3GS and it won't launch. Loads up new start up screen then sits there buffeting for ages. I tried a reboot.

The iPhone app did my head in, so slow and unreliable, wonder if this will be better.

Same thing happened to me. Tried to delete it and sync and spent minutes and minutes removing without any change in progress. Cancelled it and restarted my iPhone. Now the thing won't boot up. Damn you Zuckerberg :(

yay - the most recent button at the top zooms you back up to the top of the screen, used to annoy the hell out of me scrolling all the way back to the top

As a little iOS tip (You might already know) but if you tap the status bar on your iPhone (One with signal, time etc.) it will scroll right up to the top of the page your on. It works for all apps as well I think. Bit late now but you might find it handy for other app's.

Thanks, I did. For some reason, it wasn't in previous versions of app. I found myself tapping top of screen to no avail on several occasions.

For those planning on updating this... try and delete the app and then install the updated version. Both me and a friend had the same problem. And after deleting it from the iPhone and reinstalling it the app launched successfully.

Same thing has happened to me. If I restore and update to the latest iOS I'll lose my jailbreak and unlock making the phone useless either way. Fanfuckingtastic

I left my phone retstarting (stuck on apple logo) and planned on letting the battery die down. But after about 15 mins it successfully restarted. And everything was working fine.

This new Facebook app for the iPad is supposed to have AirPlay but I don't see it anywhere.

Isn't airplay not out till tomorrow with iOS5

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,360 ✭✭✭DubDJ

It won't have AirPlay built in. But when iOS 5 is released tomorrow it will support AirPlay mirroring. Which essentially is what your talking about. It's built into the OS rather than the specific app.

    BE VERY CAREFUL

F*ckin piece of sh*t app killed my phone & I didn't have a recent backup so lost a lot of recent photos from a visit to my parents last week

I did an update and Facebook just hung and wouldn't start and the phone became inactive. I had to do a reboot and the phone froze on the Apple logo. There was nothing I could do except restore. Never had a single issue with the phone until now. Was waiting until Wednesday to do a backup, so fu*ckin pissed off now

Mine get stuck on apple logo at stupid o clock after I deleted old app and added this one, I couldn't start phone , so I let it sleep fir a bit, working fine now

    Worked fine for me.

And the new iPhone app is pretty snazzy too!

Left mine booting and it eventually booted into Restore mode (after an hour or so), so lost my unlock and now have an expensive iPod touch. I've PM'd the O2 representatives on here to see if they can unlock it because if I have to buy an iPhone 4 two weeks before the 4S is released I'll cry.

I had the issue with the apple logo on my iPhone too. Had to reset twice while resetting to get the thing back.

Also had issues installing it on the iPad. It would install fine but when you open it, the iphone version would open! Had to manuall drag and drop from iTunes to get it to install and work correctly!

That aside, so far the app seems to be an improvement over the previous version. The real test will be how reliable the notifications are.

not facebook's fault if you don't back up your phone regularly, mine backs up automatically when i plug it into my computer for charing. no excuses in fairness.

I know that is my problem. Only got back from Ireland Sunday evening and didn't have a chance to connect to the laptop. Was going to wait until the IOS 5 release tomorrow. You don't expect an app to kill your phone, just pissed now as I had some nice family photos on the phone from last week :(

Wonder why there's no chat on the iPad version??

If you had of just left the phone on the apple logo for ages it probably would've booted in the end. Happened to me too. It took about 25 mins to boot!

Went to update the Facebook app. Decided to uninstall and reinstall like it suggests. It stayed stuck on installing for ages. I shut down the phone and when I turned it back on it is stuck on the apple logo a good ten minutes now. Just waiting to see what happens now. Had no problem installing it on the iPad.

Had to do a restore on it
