    Hi guys..

Everytime I google anything I find the answers here so I am hoping you guys can help me...

I have been on disability for 2 years and in April this year I send in forms to continue on disabilty allowance... between then and now I have been on a Supplementary Welfare allowance, I have just received notification that they are not allowing me to continue on DA.. I have lost my CE job due to their tardiness and now am in total limbo and to be honest I can not go tru the mental torture of waiting to see if an appeal is cleared or not!!! I can't handle the stress...

So now I have to go the the dole office.. but am I going to be eentitled to anything or how does it work?!?! My head is melted.. this country really just doesn't want to help people at all...

I am at my wits end and everywhere I turn I hit a brick wall.. all I really want to do is get back to work.. but I'm just not mentally there yet.. i'm trying but failing!!!

any advice would be appreciated thanks x

By accepting the decision to refuse you Disability Allowance you are accepting that you are fit to work. You should ensure that really reflects your position before deciding what to do.

If you decide to cut your losses and accept the decision you can sign on for Jobseekers Allowance. You will be expected to show what efforts you have made to look for work, and unfortunately because you had previously indicated that you were unfit for work, there will likely be more scrutiny paid to your case than if you had not. However, if you do what everyone else is advised to and send out plenty of application form, keep a copy of your applications, any responses that you get, register with FAS and with your local Employment Services, join a local jobs club if one is available you should be fine.

The alternative is to appeal the Disability Allowance decision, in which case your SWA should continue until the appeal is determined. Appeals can take a year or longer to determine. This would at least give you a breathing space and perhaps the opportunity to consider whether you are truly ready to look for full-time work.

If you are minded to go for the appeal, even just to give yourself some more time, then I would contact a local unemployment or disability support group to help with the appeal.
