Finished third but no prize

I played in a team event in August and only found out three weeks ago that we were third. I told one of our team and he phoned the club, after two calls he finally got to talk to the golf manager ...... names and details were provided and we were told we won vouchers.

Its now over two months since we played and no sign of our prizes. To make matters worse .... on the day, I remember the prizes were on display and there was no vouchers, third was t-shirts and I feel we have been conned.

It's not about the value of the prizes, its more about sharp practice.

What rights do we have ? is it worth reporting to the the GUI ?

I can name and shame the club, but am not sure if its the done thing on here.

Could be a mistake. Best to ring yourself and explain how you feel about it.
Golf clubs are bending over backwards these days to keep their customers happy.

How much are the Vouchers for?
Do some clubs not revert to vouchers in the case of a no show at presentation, in the event the prizes are bought in the club shop, and under an illusion that a voucher may suit visiting players better than a prize they can only exchange at the local shop, I doubt very much any one is trying to con you.

write to the secetary of the club and point it out, I wouldn't start accusing anyone just yet. If you don't get an adquate response I'd follow it up with a fairly frank letter, I'd be surprised if some prizes don't re appear. I know of a guy who hangs around in a club house and offers to collect prizes for people who don't turn up, they only get them if they happen to enquire. It's been copped on to now and he's been found out. I reckon he claimed thousands in prizes over the years!

Thanks lads, just to clarify .....

We are under the impression that the vouchers are for golf at the club.

There was no presentation as there is no clubhouse only portacabins (Im sure some of you will know this venue, as they have a boards member promoting the club on here). Trying to talk to Captain/Secretary is not easy.

We all gave our contact details and GUI details when we entered, this was followed up by the phone calls to the club two weeks ago..... where we were told by the first person to phone back when the golf manager was there as HE deals with all this. We got him and he assured us he would send out the prizes (vouchers) despite us offering to drive down and collect them.

I think this will be a loser and suspect that the club is in trouble, I will keep an eye here and if they start promoting their opens ..... it will get interesting.

    Thanks again.
