My DVD drive has stopped working, and it no longer appears when I click on "Computer". How can I fix this?

Is it detected in the BIOs or at POST?

Don't know how to check that, but this is the message I get when checking Device Manager -

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Ok try right click on that>Uninstall and restart the computer, see if it comes back again!
