Getting into criminal law

    Hello Legal Discussion forum,
I recently graduated law and hope to become a criminal law solicitor (amongst other areas naturally), so I will be sitting the FE1s. In the meantime I am hoping to get some sort of unpaid work experience with a criminal solicitor/firm of criminal solicitors for a few weeks or else two days a week for a few weeks, something like that. Unfortunately there is no classification on the Law Society website for criminal law solicitors so I am not sure where to begin. Would I be advised to walk around the streets surrounding the Four Courts and the Criminal Courts, looking for solicitors work in criminal law, wander in and set out my stall for them? Or would emailing be an option?
Thanks in advance for any help!

I would not really advise emailing as I know from trying to start out myself that an email can be forgotten about. I think if you walked in to offices and stated your story and if they could see that you were interested and enthusiastic then that could make up their mind to hire you. Solicitors are at a stage where they still feel hard done by the recession and you might get the story that I don't have enough work for myself never mind you, however, don't let that put you off. If you are willing to work, you will find it.

    Good luck!
