I have a HP 5180 printer and I alway refill my cartriges with no issue. I get the inks in bulk from http://www.cityinkexpress.co.uk/ . My printer takes 5 colours and I refill them all. I was in college a year and a half ago, and ran out of ink. As I needed to print off photos for a porfolio, I ended up buying new ink cartrages which cost me a fortune, I think I ended up spending over €100 by the time I was finished. The bulk ink I bought cost about €80 and I will be able to refill 20 times. My printer is over 5 years old and never let me down.

You can purchase refilled cartridges or bulk ink, or even a continues refill system. All the instructions and everything you need is with the kits or if you go for the bulk ink, you will need a syringe, gloves and an old newspaper in case you spill a wee bit of the ink. Re-filling the old cartridges is really easy and if you go to YouTube and search you printer model or cartridge, you will more that likely find a video that will show you how it is done.
You will need the model number of your printer which should be clearly printed on the printer itself. For example, my printer is a HP Photosmart C5180 and from that information, I can find all the ink products I need on this site. Please let me know if there is any more information you need. I hope this saves you money.
A few years ago, when I worked in an office, we had a Sharp fax machine that went through an ink cartridge every second day at €25 a pop. One day I was in Dunnes and I bought a re-fill kit for €10 and was able to reuse the same cartridge about 10 to 15 times. Saved a fortune for the sake of €10. Needless to say I wasn’t thank for it.

Does cityinkexpress has free delivery? I want to try them out since i heard they recycle empty ink cartridges. not sure if they do pick up.. so that's what i want to know and also if they deliver their items free for locations near to them.. i have not tried any of their printer inks. Is their ink formula near OEM's ink formula consistency since their prices is really cheaper..

My experience with refills differs; they don't always used the best quality ink for the fills and if it's cheap enough it can clog your nozzles. Good way to ruin a printer (not that printers are terribly expensive anymore). Not to mention sometimes you get issues with the cartridge chips being ****ing stupid on you. That little part about the ink market that I do loathe.

One thing that was pointed out to me by my HP sales liason (and we tested this) is the 920 ink system is actually one of their newest and best, which is designed even in dense printing situations to dry almost immediately and allow you to do things like run a highlighter over it without smudging, which for the sake of keeping things professional (like handing a customer an invoice) is actually a plus. Tried this on my 564 black at home... and no. I smudged. I am disappoint. So if you do go with refill companies try to do some research on the quality of the ink that they supply.

you can also go to http://hp.com/go/learnaboutsupplies to see system page yields. The average cost of a 920XL black sold at my store (1200 page yield) is about <$0.04 per sheet (assumes an industry regular, that 5% of the sheet will be ink with the rest being whitespace - a text document, basically. So if you do a lot of photo or graphs your mileage will vary).
