3d Gaming + Passive 3d Tvs?

    Hey lads,

I'm hoping to pick up a PS3 and 3d tv before the end of month and was wondering if anyone is playing 3d games on a passive 3d set like the LG LW450 or Philips 7606 series.

Has anyone compared ps3 gaming on both an active and passive set? Is there much of a difference. I know the passive has a softer image due to lower output per eye but is it hugely noticable. The TV will mostly just be used for 3d gaming and I really like the idea of the passive sets.

    Cheers

According to these guys Passive is better:

    3D TV Display Technology Shoot-Out

I have a passive tv (the LG LW450 i think), and it works fine for me, and I haven't noticed any issues, but best to read some reviews.

Great so how do you find the 3d effect in general with the LW450? Is there a noticable drop in picture clarity when the 3d is enabled for ps3 games? I read the input lag can be quite high on this model, might not be noticable if you're not playing fast paced FPS games online

I have the lg as well the 42'' model. I find the 3d excellent obviously there is picture degrading from 2d to 3d but the 3d effect makes up for this imo if the 3d is good to begin with. I think the imput lag ws fixed awhile back with firmware from lg. I play abit of fifa and
never have an issue. One thing to keep an eye on is backlight bleed can be an issue i believe.

I bought the LG 42PW450T last week from richersounds.. Only cost me 470 and have no issues with it.. The 3D is amazing for all games I have tried (Black Ops aint as good though).. God of War Collection 2 is probably the best 3D game I have tried..

As long as I put the TV into Game mode, things tend to be fine. This also goes for PC, if you don't mark the input for PC, you will notice the lag, but once you mark it as PC, it works fine.

Yeah I've read that renaming the HDMI input to PC reduces the lag. Will be the first thing I do

Take a look at the official forums, and that should sort out most issues for you:

Hi Guys, I'm pretty new to Boards. I've bought a LG LW550T which will be arriving next week. I play a lot of PS3 online games such as MW3 and I'm just wondering what the lag is like for these?? I have read a mixture of reviews and overall I hear that the lag is not really an issue with the latest firmware updates, is this the case?
