Being debated now on Liveline, here's a link to the story:

    http://www.thescore.ie/keane-sits-out-training-the-morning-after-he-takes-stage-in-malahide-pub-250143-Oct2011/

There's a video doing the rounds of Robbie Keane singing in Gibney's pub in Malahide yesterday evening (apparently about 7.30 pm) and an outraged caller thought it was a complete disgrace as "he's supposed to be injured!"

    Eh, what's the problem exactly?

It was early in the evening, and I don't think he needs to be completely uninjured to sing.

Can someone give me any reason why this might be a problem two days before a match?

(Though perhaps we should be collectively ashamed that he was singing a Garth Brooks song!

Jesus this sums why I hate Joe Duffy and the cretins that call into his show

I'll never forget the whole rubberbandits incident, the economy down the swanny and two lads getting stick for making people laugh

For Ireland's sake he is better off in the pub!!

Yep, right there is why I don't listen to the likes of Joe Duffy, Adrian Kennedy, etc etc.

Nothing but empty-headed morons ringing in and blathering on.

Have to say I'm not too upset about that. Saved me a good few nights of staring at the ceiling in the midst of a legal high come down

Irish bloke goes drinking, winds up singing - then pulls a sickie. I think it's been done before.

He said it was his lifelong ambition to sing there.

It's fairly well known that there's an attitude of 'being on holiday' when the Irish football team assemble for friendlies and qualifiers. It's a culture that's been there ever since the Charlton days. The only time they ever really work and behave like a professional club is in the run-ups to final tournaments (in the rare event that they actually qualify).

You'd already have 150 thanks by now if you'd posted that on the soccer board. Just shows the difference in sense of humour.

(I prefer the AH one tho.)

Team has been named, Keane is out injured. Pointless rant is pointless.

Not a problem. I'd imagine Trap is aiming for 0-0 anyway.

That would probably be a nil - nil win, judging by Trap's usual mentality

It did make for the funniest Liveline in years though when Blindboy Boathouse demolished the grumpy fecker ringing in complaining about them.

He was singing his own version of The Hokey Pokey:--

You put your left arm out, you out your right arm out,
You point at Aiden McGeady and shake all about.

You get tackled in the box and fall down,
Then chase after the referee with a big sad frown.

You score a goal, take the glory with a summersault,
You take no blame when you miss as it's not your fault.

Complete rubbish mate. The guy is out for upto 4 weeks. He sings a song in his local pub, yes he has a house there. No other players there and trap is pretty strict re drinking culture etc. Look at andy reid getting the chop. Usual knee jerk irish begrudging. He owes u or me nothing after scoring 50 plus international goals.
Or would u prefer he lay in bed holding a cup of hot chocolate.
I bet if he was an egg chaser he would be your hero-)

This somehow slipped through the net.

There are two other forums you could have posted this in.
