    Hi all,

I have a 3GS which I bought second hand over a year ago.

It's jailbroken and unlocked but I need to find out which network the phone was on originally?

Is there any easy way to find this out?

I know I could restore the phone and lock it again, get sim cards from each network to test which one works.

But I'd love an easier way...any ideas? Would the IMEI give any info?

You could run IMEI through Apple's tech support page, it should tell you who it was locked to when bought.

No joy on either counts ...thanks anyway.

Looks like there's no way of finding out!

    Hi all,

Just got in touch with RebelSim and they gave me a report based on the IMEI.

It came back that it's locked to "TMeteorele Ireland" which I presume is Meteor.

Am I right in saying that it wasn't possible to purchase a 3GS from Meteor? The first phone they sold was the iPhone 4?

You can buy a 3GS off them now, don't know if that's a new thing.

    Hi Eoin,

The warranty on this phone expired in Jan 2010 so I can't see how it's locked to Meteor :(

i suppose you could ring each network giving them the imei and see if they have it on their system

actually are you sure it's not a 3g because afaik the 3gs wasn't released until june/july 2009 so it would be impossible for the warranty to run out in january 2010, either way start with o2 first cos they had the exclusivety deal then
