What do you think of them, any complaints about specific ones etc etc.

Saw a few people commenting on the discount cards in the daily life thread so interested in hearing opinions on this matter =]

Are you sure you're not confusing them with the Accountancy and Finance Soc? I find them to be much more 'prolific' and illiterate.

Do you not mean the biggest society ever ever the "Free Pizza Society"?

It's funny - back in my day, it was Lit 'n Deb that everyone hated. Now no one gives a toss about them...

Perhaps people thought of them as tossers etc, but ive found them to be very inclusive

I'd agree - I wasn't overly gone on the society itself, but most of the people were lovely. There's always a danger with being the "biggest society on campus" that you will be resented.
That's not to make any excuses for one's dislike of the Buckfast society, mind...

Im gone from NUIG now, wheres all the hatred for A&F coming from anyway?

EDIT: Or is it bizsoc is getting a hammering?

Probably because the Accountancy and Finance Society seems to more about organising large gatherings in CPs than anything remotely related to Accountancy or Finance

A&F soc still manage annoy me and I've left Galway.

The most exclusives parties in Galway EVRAR only 2000 invited!

I had a really exclusive party last week, only 3 people in total, so A&F = false advertising etc.

And don't get me started about that arrogant prick in charge of them all.

Or the 'we're too big and important to pick up all our own rubbish on socs day' society?

I'd be interesting in accounting the finances of these guys ;)

To be fair, they did have people going around after Socs' Day collecting the rubbish. During the day itself there was a bit of a mess, but I didn't find that half as irritating as the **** music that various socs did be blaring out.

    Prepare to be amazed/blinded/nauseated.

    http://www.nuigafsociety.com/

It's a wonderful case study into what NOT to do when designing a website.

Aye, checked it out the other day. It's pretty dire alright.

That's just poor, I couldn't design a website that badly if I tried.

Damn, I was hoping for a few animated GIF's :(

It does seem that anyone involved with the other societies despise them...

Stupid Question. Is there a society that teaches you how to set up an online business. Like what software to use and how to use it, common pitfalls, how does online banking work, different types of workshops ect. Want something a little more specific than the business society so that I can ask specific Questions.
Personally I think it would be a good idea seen as there is very few jobs out there and I have an basic rough idea for one :D

Quality stuff, needs more marquee tags and animated GIFs. Shocking lack of background midi music too. Surely they could get someone in daddy's firm to help knock one up?

I think BizSoc did something like that last year or the year before. Check them.

In fairness it must have been pretty hard to make a website that bad.

There was a meeting for all the soceity auditors and from what I hear is that they spent most of the time giving out about A&F.

What was the problem with them?

They're clearly a set of planks, but that's hardly unusual in college.

I don't know your man, but was pretty sure it was not a secret that he was "not" a ladies man per say. Does seem to be alot of dodgy stuff and our friend apparently has masonic links?
So he says. He's as much a Freemason as I am a Habsburg.
