I am 30 years old and sometimes I'm not sure if I am looking at fashion correctly. For e.g. in River Island, I now feel some of the clothes are targeted at much younger but yet I really like some of the dresses

...... What Stores Do You Find Your Favourite Pieces In Your Thirties.....

Zara, Warehouse, Mango, Massimo Dutti and Warehouse. I pick up bits and pieces in the various brands in BT and Arnotts.

But if you like the stuff in River Island, and it suits you, then just wear it.

Similar to Lainey...Zara, Warehouse, Oasis, French Connection, but I find a fair few bits and pieces in Vero Moda, H&M and Top Shop too. Some basics in Gap. And the odd (expensive!) thing in BT - normally coats or shoes!

I don't look in River Island much. I find it too young, but probably because I used to shop there a lot when I was in my early 20s.

I'm 37 and found the older I got the fewer things there were in the likes of River Island/Topshop that suited me. I think the older you get being fashionable/on trend tends to morph into being stylish.

That said I don't buy granny clothes but there are a few shops that I find bridge the ages as such. I like stuff from Esprit, Kookai, Mexx and some stuff from Monsoon, Wallis.

Taking all that into account I bought a top in Oasis on Saturday!

I wouldn't rule out going into the likes of Zara, H&M either, although the quality of some of the stuff isn't all that good for some things, little summer tops and dresses are fine but most winter knits aren't great quality. I would rather spend a bit extra on something that doesn't look like it's been dragged through a hedge after one wash.

Just buy where you want to buy ffs...

You like something, it suits you - who cares whether it's from Miss Selfridge or Marks & Spencer? Clothes are about what suits the shape, the colouring etc - not what some small few people think suits a particular age.

M&S usually for style rather than fashion. Find Zara quite good for bits and pieces

I dont think thats what the OP is saying. I'd be wasting my time going into Miss Selfridges even for a look as I just wouldnt like the clothes for the most part. COAST makes me come out in hives as well.

Personally, I buy a bit online on TOAST, the odd nice bit in BTs and then the odd cheap thing in Penneys. I like Zara more and more as well. H&M good too.

I find myself more and more buying dresses from Coast, M&S, House of Fraser and BT. Wallis for the ocasional dress too.

TBH - I never shopped in River Island or Topshop anyway as I found them to be tat.

Totally agree- I do get the odd thing in river Island (there's a very thin line between nice and tat there, but they do have some nice things and not overly expensive) but Topshop has to be the most overpriced, over-rated fashion scam going.

I honestly cannot understand how they can justify the prices for most of the things they sell there. I'd say I've only ever bought 3 things there in my life.

Years ago I used to buy summer basics like strappy tops and vests cos they were a bit different and better quality than Penneys equivelent. Now I just buy them in Penneys cos there's no difference in quality but a massive difference in price.

I have a lovely dress I got there about 6 years ago, but it's the only topshop item I still have in my wardrobe.
