    I found the answer
Mr Higgins has a pension income of just under €110,000, including a 90,000 Dáil and ministerial pension, and a university teaching pension of just under €20,000.
In an effort for full disclosure, Mr Higgins also mentioned two of his poetry books had been published but income from their sales was minimal.
Mr Higgins said he would not be drawing any pension from his Oireachtas service if he is elected.

Expenses and media income is excluded.

Almost 2,000 a week pension , really harks back to the excesses of the Social Partnership.

His pensions are indicative of the disgraceful state of the country.
    And him a socialist!

He has said he will not draw his various pensions while president but will accept the going rate for the job (circa 300k pa excluding expenses) - I don't know what that means - does the pensionpot pile up waiting for him and his if he makes it through the term where another golden pot will be waiting?

    It makes me sick.

Well in fairness, if he gets the job he won't be claiming the pension for too long, Gallagher on the other hand could be claiming his pension in 7 years time for over 30 odd years.

Convinced me to vote for Higgins, on the basis that he will cost the taxpayer least as he is the oldest.

    7

    He is 49.

49 & 14 is 63 and he would still be younger than Michael D is today.
