Anyone up-to-date on what is happening on the building work in IADT? Is it true that the builder's are possibly part of NAMA so no idea of when the building work will recommence/finish?

It is unfortunate that the contractor for the exciting new National Film School Building was placed in receivership in November 2010, this has significantly delayed the project, which was due to open in September of this year. IADT has been working hard through the legal and financial fall out of this receivership to get the project back on track. We are now in a procurement process to get a new contractor and we expect construction to recommence in early 2012 with completion in mid 2013. We hope to be using the new building for the academic term commencing 2013. We are also in discussions regarding 3 other new buildings (Teaching Building with new Restuarant, Sports Hall and New Workshops). We are informed that the work on these buildings will also commence in early 2012 and that they will also be available for use for the academic term commencing 2013. While this will cause some disruption on the Campus, we are looking forward to an exciting new look with new spaces and facilities for our students in 2013.

    Thank You for your enquiry

I was wondering about this too, thanks for the update. I already have an undergraduate degree in a non-creative field, but I have gained experience in film on a practical level over the past few years. I plan on returning to university in 2013 for a postgraduate degree. Are there any plans to introduce postgraduate film courses with the new film school?

Thanks for your interest in IADT and the National Film School, you will find details of our programmes on www.iadt.ie. In the area of film, we currently have two Masters Programmes: MA in Broadcast Production for Radio and Television and MA in Screenwriting. I have included some links at the end of this posting. You should try to attend one of our open evenings for Post Graduate Programmes, the relevant academic staff and Departmental Managers are available to advise on the options available to you. The next scheduled Open Evening is in April 2012, details are on our website. http://www.iadt.ie/en/ProspectiveStudents/SchoolsCourses/SchoolofCreativeArts/MAinBroadcastProductionforRadioandTelevision/#d.en.1306
