    Hi guys,

I was up in Harvey Normans today, looking for a new laptop. I dont really know anything about computers. As I told the guy- just looking for something to search the web, use skype, maybe word etc. I dont really play computer games etc. so dont need so big fancy computer with a big spec. As I stressed to him just want something reliable.

After reading some horror stories online I'm not really sure where to go.

Anyway the ones he's recommended are the following:

Toshiba Laptop L755D-129 Price in store: €549.99

    http://www.harveynorman.ie/psk32e-01g006en.html

Toshiba Laptop C660D-19D Price in store: €450

    http://www.harveynorman.ie/psc1ye-01r008en.html

HP Laptop - Pavillion G6-1061SA Price in store: €590.99

    http://www.harveynorman.ie/g6-1061sa.html

HP Laptop - Pavillion G6-1058SA Price in store: €649.99
    http://www.harveynorman.ie/g6-1058sa.html

Would anybody have any recommendations out of these?
Are HP and Toshiba reliable brands?
Are Harvey Norman good on customer service?

their both very expensive for the specs as described...that toshiba may sound good with 6gb ram but the processor is fairly basic,(1.9ghz)as with the hp im nearly sure i saw it for 469.99-499.99 else where,my advice is have a good look around before you buy. compare like for like and get caught away with the 6gb ram, 3-4gb will be more than enough id say.
I know your looking for a mid range spec but if i was to advise you on what to look out for id say try and get a intel core i3 at the right price, you can for about 450-499

if it was a choice between all of those the 449 would be best as you don't even need something with those specs for what you want to use it for. but i would look around.

Have a look in PC World, they always have good offers. I think the ones above are just a bit too expensive for what you're getting.

Theres a very nice acer its second gen core i3 processor,4gb ram and 500hd n pcworld nd currys for 469.99,i advised a friend to have a look at it,he went for the i5 spec with 6gb ram for 550,i must say I was very jealous when I saw it compared to mine, very nice price if u can budget for it,i know I said not to get carried away with 6gb ram but with an a core i5 processor(which is the most important factor when it comes to spec) for 550 think its the best ud get....well worth the look

    Thanks Guys! Great advice

Is it worth getting all the extended warranties and insurance and everything they offer?
