Running 3 screens

    I'm planing to get a projector to use as a 3rd screen, the projector will be HD and 3D but I'm after reading that to run 3 screens you need to be running two Nvida cards in SLI.


    I have a geforce GTX 460 and it has the ports to do this I'm using the two DVI ports and I was expecting to just plug the projector into the HDMI.

    Will it work?

    Over in building and upgrading it was brought up in another thread and it's true that you can only run two displays off the card that I have or any single core GPU card from Nvidia, the new dual core cards can run 3 screens. So to run the 3 screens at the same time I would need to do SLI with a 2nd card.

    However as I won't be doing a 3 screen gaming setup and don't need the 3 displays to run at the same time I can just turn off my current 2nd display and switch on the projector. I wouldn't want to be running the projector as often anyway.

    I'm looking to get the Epson EH-TW5900. Just have to wait for it to come out, I was all set to buy another Epson projector last month took out the savings then found out about this new range coming out this month. The money is burning a hole in account for the last few weeks I've been afraid it would get eaten into by bills.
