    Change up before 2000 rpm.

hey, thanks, the revs seem pretty low -between 1 and 2 most of the time, im just taken aback the fuel gauge seems to drop very quick, thast said i havent put a full load in yet...

Get into second as soon as possible when moving away, if you want to see good mpg you need to sit at about 100k/ph so aggressive driving is out.

Fill it, zero the trip meter, drive it until the light comes on, refill, calculate your exact fuel consumption, and then post that figure here.

thanks Anan1 ... prob the best idea ... im new to diesel, and the 6th gear, havent really been driving it past the 100km yet to be honest so i know im not driving it too hard, just not sure if there is something really obvious that im doing wrong fot the gauge to drop so fast ... ill fill it up and set the trip to 0... thanks

Change at the shift indicator, and don't let it labour. Can't remember if the A4 will tell you to downshift if you are in too high a gear, like the BMW does.

Last time I had an A4 2.0Tdi 143 on a decent run it was returning 4.3L/100km - which is pretty impressive.

I rented one of these recently in the UK.. 3 days of solid motorway drving at 70mph gave me 43mpg on the computer - I thought it would do better.
