    Hi Guys,

I just ordered a hd 3d projector online for playin ps3 and watchin 3d and blue ray movies cause my 22" tv broke and this could be a sick soulition for 100e more..... im wondering bout a screen iv checked round and most screens for sale are round 120'' and below and 200 euro up which is a little steep....i was just wondering if anyone has made a screen and has any good ideas....the reason why im asking is that i currently have a 12x9 blackout blind in my sittin room... its a bay window with two 1.5 blackouts on either side so theres no risk of light penetration BUT does anyone know first hand what the quality of these blinds are like for screens or have any good ideas for me to make a good screen without breakin the bank.... all imput will help....

    cheers

If your room suffers no ambient light then a white screen will most likely be what you are after, in that case you could use white walls or a decent blackout blind.

Have a look here for some ideas. I made a custom Black Widow screen as I have ambient light, but before that had just used a wall and it worked fine.

When getting into projects (not that I am by any means an expert) I would also suggest using a wall or something initially to get familiar with the PJ and screen size you are comfortable with and then either go DIY or buy.

Best of luck and enjoy !

You can see some pics in this thread.

I used the BW mix as outlined in the thread, got the matt paint from a Johnstones/Leyland paint store they mixed it per the code provided and I got the AAA from SMDesigns up the north.

Note BW is a grey screen which is generally only used in situations where you suffer from ambient light if your room is dark a white screen is the norm.

Once you get your projector and fire it up even against a lite coloured wall you will most likely be blown away. I used a slightly off white wall for quite some time before using BW.

Hi Duff86, I use blackout lining as a screen and it works terrifically. When I bought my projector I just used blackout lining that I bought in Home Focus. I bought a 3 meter length for about 20 euro and cut to the size of the image being projected onto the wall at home. I made a wood frame and attached it to the wall. I bought an Optoma HD600x and it is one of the best purchases I ever made. I'll be fairly certain you won't go back to watching movies and tv/ playing games on a normal teleision.
