    Hi,
I have the Baptismal Certificate of my father's sister in 1901. My father's name appears as one of the Godparents. After his name there is this entry; (Prox). I believe this to be Proxy.
My Dad was 15 years of age at the time and was working.
Now, does this indicate that there was some age limit or that he was not present?
    Anyone got any clues?
    Joe

    Not present.

There isn't a specific age limit for godparents. It used to be a requirement that they had to be confirmed in the church.
