    Not to be an even bigger downer or anything on this already dark day but is any path lab in the UK or Ireland doing research on Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE)? A lab in Boston is collecting the brains of former sportsmen, esp. American footballers and ice hockey players, and showing some fairly dramatic changes post mortem. This is the website:

    I think it would be a good idea if some high profile players publicly committed to donate their brains to such a lab. In the case of accidental or cardiac death, surprisingly advanced changes have recently been seen in relatively young men e.g. Bob Probert, a former hockey enforcer. In time, such information may change how contact sports like rugby are played.
