That comes up when i try to dedicate more memory than i have available.

Try lowering it and see if it works then.

It almost looks like Java is corrupt on your machine and is demanding a minimum of 4GB memory to operate, rather than ~140MB. I'm guessing said setting is a corrupt Registry entry which means it might not even be pulled out by a rollback or uninstall

If you're doing everything right then I'd be tempted to nuke all Java clean off the system, then run a trustworthy registry cleaner AND search for remaining Java entries (outside of other apps) in RegEdit before reinstalling the latest JVM.

I'd give Revo Uninstaller a go for removing Java. It has a reg checker orphaned entries after an uninstall

    64 bit machine?

    64 bit Java?

Common problem, and an easy mistake to make :)

There's your problem. Completely remove java and install the 64bit version

what's the purpose of dedicating memory?

There's an issue when MC uses more than 1GB memory. When the game reaches that amount it starts to lag and eventually crash. Using the wrong version of Java causes it and a reinstall of the correct version usually fixes it. USUALLY. Because it didn't for me. Instead of crashing I get an internal error.

    lol, name change :D

is that the reason why I drop down to 1fps when collecting my items and XP after a creeper snuck up on me? it's horrible and takes about 25min to get myself back together again.

I assumed it was a crossfire issue with MC and 6950s.

I think there is a bug with the experience dropped after dying
