How to create photo collage for printing on canvas?

I bought a couple of vouchers for A3 size acrylic and canvas prints from a CityDeal.ie offer and was thinking of getting photos of my nephews and nieces done up for them.

I have a number of photos that I'd like to add together in a large collage-type image to then print on the canvas/acrylic.

I used Microsoft Auto Collage a few years ago and it was good but you didn't get to control the layout/split of photos and I couldn't see how to set the output resolution and size (e.g. to suit A3 portrait/landscape).

Are there any good, relatively easy to use, software applications or websites that do this, or any other tips for how to approach it?

Google's Picasa 3... It's exactly what you need. Download it here.
