The missus old phone has packed in so shes gettin a new one.

She's O2 and wants to keep her number. I've told her my HTC Desire is the bees knees so shes considering the Desire S.

The first thing I'll want to do is root/Flash it. Not sure if I can convince her though!! :pac:

Shes open to moving to vodafone.

    Any recommendations?

    What does she gave already?
What does she typically use it for?
Does she want an iphone (even if it's for no specific reason) ?
Will having to charge it every day be an issue?

If she likes your phone then she is bound to like the desire s. What about even the sensation?

lol well she has some old motorola flip phone from about 6 years ago. its by no means "smart"!!
Shes upgrading because its stopped charging, and reporting missed calls. The alarm stopped working on it too so shes had enough. She never wanted an iPhone and she has to charge the current one nightly anyway!

She reckons the Galaxy S II is too big. The Sensation is the same size, no? Its all about price too. Its lookin like shes gonna switch from O2 to Meteor for the Smart 35 plan. It looks decent enough.

Is there anything "wrong" with the Desire S?

+1. Only €39 from Three. Have a look at their very good deal on their website.

I've used the Europa and to be honest, I couldnt let her first smartphone be THAT thing.

We went with the Desire S anyway.

Now, anyone know anything about custom ROMs for the Desire S? :D

Why bother? Let her have a play wit it for a few weeks, ya may find she doesn't need a custom rom

Her phone is annoying me already. All the things I take for granted on CyanogenMod7 are missing from the stock ROM. Its just little things.

I'll give her a week and then flash it while she's asleep. She won't notice the difference!
Depends on if CM7 is stable on Desire S.

Hahaha. Reading through the thread from the start now and you were always gonna buy the desire S.
I'd do the same. Hell I'd come up with some fake problem so you could seem generous when you offered to swap your reliable dependable HTC desire for that terrible unreliable Desire S. :D

He's to fecking right. Haha I'd be the exact same.
Leave her with stick rom for a while and don't tell her about custom roms having battery tweaks. Hopefully she will get annoyed with having a bad battery. Then you step in to help her out cos your just lovely like that. Swap phones then keep change the rom but don't let on. Complain about the phone from time to time and she might even hop on the good foot and do the bad thing with you.
