Best basic e-reader suitable for my old mother.

I want to get an e-reader for my 77 year old mother. Can anyone make a recommendation?

I want to pay as little as possible, so I don't want to buy her one with lots of bells and whistles she won't need. Remember she has no idea how to even use a mobile phone, so 3G, apps, audio and web browsing and the like are a waste of time.

Once a month or so I will put a few books onto it for her, she will read them and then I'll get her a few more books. Every site I go to, seems to get wrapped up how many extra sexy and cool features their e-reader has, well she doesn't need them.

So in conclusion, what is the best bog standad e-reader on the market?

My old fella got a kindle for Xmas takes it everywhere with him, buys books off Amazon the lot

No hassle no phone calls, no visits with a big stick to make him use it

To give you some idea of his computer ability, he didn't speak to us for days when we upgraded his computer from Windows 95 to XP

So my vote goes with the Kindle
