When migrating, do swallows fly in a V-formation?

i think so with a leader at the front who drops back to the back when he gets tired and another takes his place

I dont think so. I'd say the fly in flocks with no leader.

I think it's mainly large birds that fly in Vs - swans, geese, pelicans, storks, cranes, gulls

Mark is right. They flock and do not fly in V-formation

Still quite a few here, but then there is plenty of midgies/flies still around!
