Just watching him on the late late, no doubt a serious talent on a horse, but why do we celebrate the rogue or downright stupidity in people?

great laugh to bring a horse into a pub (women and children running for cover) if the horse spooks there could have been carnage.

riding a horse while admitting to been totally hungover and not in a fit state to ride , yeah the owner pays 50-60k for a horse so that you can make shi te of it by not riding it properly.

Fine waste your talent if you want, but by putting others in danger and having wanton disregard to your employer and your employers property is not something to be celebrated.

He is the Jamie Spencer of the National Hunt.

Bags of natural ability but tries to be too cute coming from the back on the bridle etc and loses races that he should have won as a result.

I'm not sure about his personal life but not too interested in it either.

While no angel (and he freely admits this) his 3 winners on Saturday and supreme ride on Muirhead yesterday show he's one of the best in the business.

Super jockey. Won a few bob on him over the years. But I'm glad for more than one reason, that I wasn't on the flight when he lit the newspaper.

I thought Paul, Tubridy, and the studio audience showed immense immaturity by laughing that one off.

    I wouldn't live with him.

Noel Meade must have much patience.

In my opinion Paul Carberry is the greatest horseman this small island ever gave the world. Not alone is he a genius in the saddle but also a very nice down to earth young man.Paul has helped alot of charaties foc where other leading jockeys require large payments. As Aristotle once wrote there was never a genius without a tinture of madness.

Im not doubting his genius in the saddle, its his unprofessional and foolhardy attitude to others that i dislike and in particular the way that this was celebrated on the LLS.

Why is it ok to endanger others (horse in pub, fire on a plane, turning up drunk to work) ?

I really hate the ahh sure hes talanted he can mess up other peoples lives and thats acceptable.

Why is it a big laugh to say that i was so hungover that i could hardly see the fences? why didnt someone say well surely you were endangering yourself , the horse and the other riders and their horses.

why didnt someone point out that this was extremely reckless and childish behaviour?

as i said a talented rider, lets celebrate that and not the "look at me im a gob****e" part of his life.

If for one moment that you think Paul is the only jockey past or present to get up on a horse drunk or stoned, well enough said.I can name quite a few ,some I was drinking with till 7.30am[two treble Vodkas to drink when i left] then go out and win big races that day.A trainer brought his two well fancied horses to Cork when infact they were to run at Leopardstown,he is not known to drink a bottle of water in the mornings.

Pc is one of many weighroom attendees that like to have the craic when their out on the tear, be it the night before the gold cup or the night before the guineas they don't care, and infact some of them ride better when their full... They live life to the full and have as much fun as they can when they can, and they have every right to when they do the job they do...!

    Are you for real Jim?

so as long as someone is good at their job its acceptable to turn up full as you put it.

does the same go for surgeons? pilots?

I have no problem with anyone living life to the full, but not when it impacts on others and puts their lives and well being in danger.

So it's ok for jockeys to put their careers/lives, and those of the other riders, not to mention the horses' lives, at risk, simply because they're good at their job?! :roll eyes:

Does the same apply to good drivers who are over the legal limit??

I'm glad that the Turf Club have introduced the breath and drug testing. Should have it at every meeting.

I've no problem with someone living life to the full, but not when it comes to putting someone else at risk.

I think he is an arrogant tool, full of ****e and a complete waste of talent, no doubt he is a very good horseman but he has to try win on the bridle.

If I was on that plane I would still be punching him now!

If you didn't see the racingpost yesterday have a look at this, he is talking about Harchi:
