Limitations of our style

Absolutely rubbish today, I really think that Ireland's tactics can only get us so far. I would argue that Ireland havnt played particularally well, we were more hungry an shut Australia out and that was our single good moment. Against Italy, we were not that good, Italy were a poor poor side.

Anyway the point is that we don't play running rugby, that's the way game has to be played. Everyone in world rugby sees you have to attack attack, the rules don't favour defenders anymore so why are we persisting? We've seen Leinster do it so we know these players have the capabilties to run. We need to get rid of the old guard now and for once build up for 4 years time. Kidney out Joe Schmidt in

The skill levels are not high and never were.

There is hope though. There are some class players coming through like Luke Marshall, Tiernan O'Halloran, JJ Hanrahan and more.

I have to say Gaffney is also a poor coach so its great hes leaving.

Kneejerk. Don't know how you can say we only shut out Australia. Could have been 1 ( tommy bowe) or 2 ( murray) tries.

Its not kneejerk. They've just failed at another world cup. Time for changes.

You're right but tis too early in the morning and too soon after the game to give an objective and constructive opinion on this

We played a clever game against Australia and credit to us for that. But our back line has been a shambles under Gaffney. Gatland knew exactly how to beat us.

Really!? Murrays attempt came from an illegal turnover and Bowes from an Aussie mistake as they were chasing the game. Neither were opportunities that we legitimately created. We got to the QF off the back of our pack. We beat the Aussies up front and the Italians couldn't handle our back row at all. But when we come up against a team that can handle our pack we need to have a back line that can do the business. There's been no sign of us having that in the last couple of years.

Look at the other QF this morning. The English can't dominate up front and have to play a different style of game and just can't. The difference between us and England is that we have the players that can do it. The centres in particular. The English centres are distinctly average and ours have shown with Leinster to be very capable. It's fair to say it's a coaching issue with us more than anything.

    FAILED???? what?
What did you expect? Did you expect us to win every game of the tournament? Did you expect us to hammer wales today, then give england a lesson in the semi and then no bother against new zealand in the final???
This is the world cup, not some FAIRYTALE.

Cop on to yourself, you havent a clue what it takes to play any sport at a decent level.

Why o why does the super ireland supporter start this rubbish an hour after being knocked out.

Time for changes???? What do you want to change? Im all ears, im dying to know what you want to change. Lets hear from the expert, come on.
How about we put you in charge and you can guide us to a grand slam next year, maybe you could be a player/coach since you know it all.

    Rant over!

We lost to a very good Wales side today. No shame in that.

They failed. They played sh!te again at a vital stage on the world cup. They underperformed.

I'm a regular on this forum and know some of the younger players coming through and they're the future. Irelands squad is the oldest in the world cup. Something you might want to consider.

Just because you are a regular on an internet forum means nothing, you are just talking poo, not making any sense and is a kneejerk reaction...

Underperformed? How QF, last 8 in the world? what is bad about that? Did you expect us to win the world cup?

We beat Australia, we all dreamed what could happen, but in reality we all knew.

BTW, BOD also agrees that Ireland underpreformed.
Ireland's Brian O'Driscoll admitted his side had failed to fulfil their potential as they lost 22-10 to Wales in the World Cup quarter-final.

"It was a great opportunity for us after winning the group," said the Irish skipper.

"We needed to deliver a performance similar to those against Australia and Italy but we turned over too much ball.

"Wales took their scores very well and showed they are worthy semi-finals and good luck to them."

O'Driscoll added: "We got outplayed in the second half, they scored two good tries, maybe there was some weak defence but we are very disappointed to be going home."

The result sent Wales into the last four of the global showpiece for the first time since 1987 while Ireland have never made the semi-finals.

"It was always going to be a 50-50 game," said Ireland coach Declan Kidney.

"Wales scored three tries so there are no arguments from us."

beating wales on neutral ground is not too much to ask

We failed to beat a team which we usually win against. We were beaten by twelve points. We suffered the worst loss we've had all year, against a team that beat us by an illegal score eight months ago.

    We underperformed.
