I had a 13 year old 2nd hand Accord, drove it for 80,000 miles. 2.0 petrol LS spec. Loved the car. However at 170,00 I got a mad idea to change. Got a Passt Diesel 02 and did 50,000 and sold it. Long commute on the motorway you see. So anyway for no reason I just changed to an Avensis Diesel, liking Toyota from time spent in SA and it was stolen within two weeks. So went back to the car dealer and gave him my requirements and he had an top end spec UK (I live on the border) S40 06 diesel and I took it. It's a nice car, leather, cruise, heated seats etc. I had a focus from new and it reminds me of that but with some power, a bit like the Accord for power but perhaps better and with focus agility. I have read the reviews about the car but what I am after is thoughts on whether I am mad as a hatter etc. I do notice reading this forum that the odd 18 year old "hates" Skoda, or Hates Audis etc. But let me have it nevertheless.

Yes, I am with you there. Mind you at tha time I was replacing parts, but it was reliable for sure. It was the mpg and the fact it was beginning to rattle. Believe me I loved it and missed it after the Passat. The Passat was uber reliable, more so than the Honda. I imported from NI, it was previously a company car with a bank in England. I actually got to like once the Coca Cola reps moved up a model on the M1. The Avensis, I don't know what I was thinking. Glad it was stolen now. The S40, it's a nice car. Don't go boring me with "she'll burn her hoses" or something now. It's got good handling, nice leather heated seats and 320 Nm where you need it. I read honest Johns review and have to laugh about the 6 gears, so far a pain in the arse. I have an incooncious worry in 6th that I am in 4th, and don;t know what 5th is for? Please tell me someone what 5th is for????
