thinking about buying a levin as there are some serious bargains to be had at the moment, most of them are going for around 2 grand ....

i remember not so long ago these were fetching big enough money, just wondering whats the difference between the 16 v model and the 20v model?

    cheers:)

Suppose first up I should ask what model of Levin are you going for? AE86, AE101, AE111???

Edit: Actually since you said around the 2 grand mark i'm going to assume its an AE111. I would say that pretty much all the AE111's in Ireland have the 20v engine as it was the standard engine for BZ-G and BZ-R models. The official figure for the blacktop 20v from Toyota was 165bhp but in reality they're actually a bit less. The 16v was for the lower spec 1.6 and 1.5 models (XZ i think and X something else, cant remember right now). It was a less powerful engine so I'd imagine they would be very few and far between on these shores.

had one myself. most are 20v. They are making small money nowadays. Don't rush into it lad. There are allot of them out there. Just to let ya know that they say the bzg (5 speed) have a tougher gearbox over the bzr (6 speed) box. Also the bzr has the superstrut. Is great on corners but can be very costly if anything needs work. 300e for the wishbone (figure of eight) alone. Here's a link to a good site on them: http://s15.zetaboards.com/AE111_Forum/site/

Hope you mind the extra info.

Heres a link to the brochure for the Levin.

    http://www63.tok2.com/home2/tuccy/library/ae111levin-b.pdf

    The 20v (1.6 4A-GE) in the BZ-R and BZ-G is 165bhp, the 16v in the XZ (1.6 4A-FE) is 110bhp and the 16v in the FZ (1.5 5A-FE) is 100bhp.

A 16v AE111?? Where'd you come across that? Wouldnt have thought there would be many around since BZ-G's and BZ-R's would have been the sought after ones....I remember seeing a 1.5 16v one on donedeal a while back alright though, wouldnt say theres much of a market for them.

The 16v wasnt AE111 sorry:) what im driving now is:) the 16v was a 4AG :) I noticed personally there was a massive difference in terms of the 20v & 16v with speed +acceleration:)

Id a 1.7 diesel van before the change and must say there isnt much difference on fuel:/ i taught the levin would ate petrol it doesnt!:)
