So i had a few Wednesday night as no work in the morning, was a late late night and only got about 4 hour hours sleep before the fry started getting appealing, was still fairly hammered and i started looking on the net, went to bed that night still hungover and all feeling a bit of a daze.
About 4 today after work I logged onto ebay as i'm selling off my haynes collections to discover i've just bought a citroen xantia turbo diesel, blind, I've just taxed my runabout, i've a clio in bits around the back that i'm fixing up and very little space and no need for a french motorway cruiser that drinks the black stuff.
so has anyone else bought anything car wise interesting while hammered or there abouts.

(thank god the xantia has nice seats because i'm picking it up tomorrow and the girlfriend is not going to be happy)
least this is practical, nearly bought a renault dauphine aswell,

I did wake up one afternoon praying for someone to outbid me on a Pan European in the UK. If I'd won the auction the credit card would not have stretched to fly me to luton.
Cue a sweaty afternoon of hitting the F5 key with the fear oozing from my pores and a garage full of half finished project bikes..

I think I ran around the living room screaming when the next bid came in.

Yep, nothing like a drunk ebay purchase :D

Haven't done anything as dumb as buying a car but bought an Aussie made Engel camping fridge reduced to £400 years ago after a bottle of Shiraz and several beers on a Saturday night. At least I can keep my beer cold for 5 days on one battery when it's over 30deg outside

Car auctions are different afaik. You can still back out of the deal if the car's not as described when you go to view.

When drunk I bought an old Guinness bottle with the name of the (small) town i was born in printed on the label, it was only €5.00 but i didn't remember bidding and only logged into ebay a few weeks later to see negative feedback and an irate message from the seller.
Worst thing is, it was really nice and i would have gladly paid a lot more for it had i remember seeing it.

So i came to the conclusion that i have quite good taste when i'm drunk:P.

Send the seller an email telling him you bought the car on behalf of the king of Iran and you will be paying by cheque. Unfortunately you only have a cheque for €1500 more than the car is worth but you are willing to let him keep that for being such a good seller. You will shortly be sending a man from a courier company to give him the cheque and pick up the car and ship it back to Iran. I reckon he will want to cancel the sale.

Never bought a car but I did once spend over a 100 euros on songs for singstar one night while hammered.

Well it wasnt really me--it was the missus and her friends. They just kept ordering songs while Id logged in with my CC.Next day there was over 100 songs in the game.

Credit cards, drink, and internet do not mix well.

Do the distance selling regs apply or do they only apply if the vendor is a trader?
