I'm finishing my commerce degree from ucd specializing in Marketing this year and every job i've seen online is looking for relevant experience in the industry so i have been thinking of doing an internship to gain the experience.
The problem is all the internships i have seen are the jobs bridge ones or are unpaid in dublin ( i live in wexford so could not afford to do a free internship) and i haven't seen any advertised in wexford.
Does anyone have any tips on finding internships that pay?

A paid internship really is a contradiction in terms , by definition Internships are unpaid.

an internship is defined as supervised practical training. I know plenty of students who are doing paid internships but they are doing theirs with accountancy or finance firms. I was asking if anyone had any info/advice on getting one in the marketing sector

Approach companies you would like to work for, and umm, market yourself?

If you don't have the skills to design a campaign do this ... hmm, ... best I don't say any more.:p

i'm not asking for information on carrying out marketing campaigns i'm asking for info on finding where companies advertise their internships and what would be the best way of contacting them etc.
If someone who has first/second hand experience could give me some advice i'd be grateful

The best thing to do is look into graduate programmes rather than internships which are in fact unpaid most of the time. Only certain companies will sponsor those and be a paid internship. Most Internships aren't paid.

Get in touch with companies directly that will provide marketing related internships in the hope they might offer you a paid one. Marketing could quiet easily be commission based internship if you wished to compromise with a prospective company you wish to do an internship with.

Graduate programmes can be competitive to get into but you have a better chance of being kept on after it. They train you up similar to an internship/work-placement. You get paid as well as work experience. I'd also suggest you look into having short term unpaid work placements if you can nearer to home. Check out and get into touch with as many companies as possible and network.

    Good luck
