Garage Insulation Rigid or blown?

    Hi All,

    I am about to ring insulation companies to see how much it would cost to pump the cavity walls of my garage. I was just wondering if anyone has already looked into the cost difference between rigid insulation and the pump insulation either the foam or bead (or whatever is actually used). I will have a loft and would like to used this place regularly so I would like it fairly well insulated. Maybe if I used foam insulation which was pumped into the cavities and sprayed onto the rafters it would work out quite cost effective?

    Any advice would be welcome.

    the only certificate for foam in cavity is for 'closed cell' foam.

    you do not want to spray 'closed cell' foam onto structural timbers....

    So regardless, you are talking about two separate products. My advice, for a garage, would be to go with pumped bead and standard quilt.

    Hi guys,

    While I'm no expert on insulation myself, my family home was recently insulated by a company called <SNIP>, and I have to say, we found them really good - very knowlegeable and professional. They were happy to come out and have a look a the place, give a price and make any recommendations.
    Definitely worth calling anyway - think it's freephone!!

    Not the MD, just a satisfied customer, who thinks it's important to let people know about good product and service from an Irish company, supporting Irish jobs. Not surprised the country's in the state it's in with that attitude. Guess the term "Irish Begrudgery" didn't come from nowhere! We're all very quick to let people know about a bad product/ service, why not talk about a positive experience?

    woo hoo :D yes, I'm 'begrudged' about a lot of things:D

    But buying Irish is one of my major pastimes, as is using the proper product in the correct situation.. and some day I may even be able to specify a natural product as-well!

    look, I didn't mean to begrudge you your say. your new to the forum and the last thing I intended to do was insult you. your comments and experience are more than welcome, but the rest of us try not to sell our(or anyone else's products or services (not that blatantly anyway;))

    We do have rules here and we see no reason to grant you a dispensation just because you want to get on a soap box.
