I'm getting a leak in my car. There's water getting in the passenger seat footwell and staying there. The floor is soaked most of the time... I've puled off most of the trim in the passenger side including seat..

Anyone know of someone who's decent with leaks?
I'm in Galway but I'd be willing to travel if I knew I could get it sorted...

Have you checked your coolant level?

It's been going on for well over a year now.. Don't think it's the coolant to be honest, I'm sure the car would've blown up by now if it was...
The car is a 1998 3Dr Honda Civic fyi

No sorry, I have checked it.
Rather than sayin I dont think its the coolant, I should've said its not the coolant. I'm pretty sure its a hole or something. I'm just wondering if anyone knows a mechanic who specialises in, or is very good with leaks...

Fair enough, If the coolant level had been dropping then you likely be looking at the interior heater rad.

Have you checked the rubber seal around the door or window? If its anything other then a door seal then your looking more at a body shop rather then a mechanic.

Try waiting for a dry day so the floor is dry, then get your garden hose and spray it on different areas and see where about you start getting water on the floor again.

I've poured water all around the door, The seals seem fine. I've also taken out the passenger seat and taken off parts of the trim and lifted up the carpet... Then I tried pouring water all around the door and the windscreen etc. Couldn't see anything. I did this on a dry day. It seems a bit beyond my DIY knowledge..
Sorry, I should've included this in the original post...

Check the vent under the bonnet, up near the winscreen that it's not blocked with leaves and stuff. Cant remember exactly how it caused the water to get into the footwell, but it solved the problem.

Had the same problem with a VW Corrado a few years ago, might be totally different on a Civic but worth a shot.

I remember this being a problem with Civics when I had mine. Didnt have that leak though, mine was in the boot.

More or less what this guy said

    Spot on!

Though I did actual find the root of the problem. I noticed it wasnt getting wet on days where it just rained. I had to actually drive the car (on wet roads) to get water into it, so I assumed it was something underneath the car, and not a leaky light fitting or boot seal. Inside the wheel arch had a crack either rusted or busted in it. Possibly busted, because as I searched for the leak, I started to see signs the there had been a wee crash on the car. I couldnt see the crack, but it kinda felt rough, and using a torch I could see where the water was spraying in. The obviously just fixed up what could be seen, and disregarded the hidden damage. I went at it with some gutter sealer and that did the job.

If its not the wheel arch, other known sources are the brake lights, especially if they have been replaces with custom ones. Other than that, have a look at the rear window washer pipe, if its corroded or worn it might leak, though by simply not using the washer you could rule this out or in.

This also happened to me and I drilled a hole to let out the water but for me the cause of the problem was my Back lights. I changed them to aftermarket ones and they weren't sealed properly. So a friend of mine put sealent in or around the lights and voila... All gone.
