Hi, My local club, Inbhear Dee AC will be hosting this annual race, in conjunction with the Wicklow Rugby club. Last year the had to be postponed due to the snow and ice, and we had a small enough field when it was eventually rerun. However in years gone past top athletes such as Martin Fagin (course record 14.05!), and our very own Roisin McGettigan. The race has an Athletics Ireland permit, and is held on the streets of Wicklow town. This race always has a very good atmosphere, and is a great way to run off the christmas turkey from the day before! The full details are to follow and will all be up on our website (as soon as I get around to finishing it!)

Ok abit more info on the race! There will be a kids 1mile race at 11am, followed by the 5k at 11.30am. Entry is the low low price of 10euros, enter on the day, no need to pre-enter online, and no hassle of late entry etc. Registration and racestart are at the East Glendalough School, which is near the train station.

Any truth in the rumour (that I've just started) that there is a prize for first home in the "extremely hungover" category?;)

Reckon you need to get a head of pace on the first k, not lose too much on the hilly 2nd, take back what you can on the downhill 3rd and then hand on for dear life.
Not sure about team prizes didn't see any listed.

At least a kg. I've had a rubbish week training also, so hmm lets not do predictions on times before this race! Or maybe when I'm doing results I'll just subtract 30secs off every1s times, as a xmas weight/hungover handycap time :P!

Well done Inbhear Dee AC on a great run this morning. Tough conditions out on parts of the course made the going slow.

Everything was really well organised with great community support. Glad to see this race back on the calendar top marks. :D

Tom fitz won from Matthews?Deirdre Byrne run the womens race?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,396 ✭✭✭✭Timmaay

Yep, Tom Fitz 1st, Deirdre didn't run, Womens was won by Roisin McGettigan.

I'm just sorting out the full results now, we had well over 300 in the main race and about 50 kids in the mile race, full results will be up in the next 30mins or so on inbheardee.com
