hi all has anyone ever done or is doing applied maths outside of school as their new skill for their gaisce award, school doesnt offer it as classroom based subject so have gone and paid €1000 to be tutored in it privately and have been told gaisce wont accept it they said they want kids to have fun and do subjects such as music or woodwork etc as new skill ??? eh arent these leaving cert subjects too so it seems bit hypocritical plus now i have to go off and pay another chunk of money to learn another skill ill still keep doing it obviuosly with intention of sitting it in my leaving cert but was wondering if anyone had any advice? i cant go to any of the nite courses to learn new skill either as im not 16 yet so only other option is finding private lesson in new skill again which costs more money so annoying!!

    thanks 4 reading

Just do what I did: re-invent the wheel.

I'd actually contact Gasice again, that should really be allowed, considering woodwork and music and art are also subjects.
Don't fret though, learn to cook! Like, proper food for your whole family. It is very rewarding!
    Have a great TY anyway!

Maybe try contacting them again? If music and woodwork are counted, then so should applied maths. If not, there are plenty of other things you can do - do your driving theory test(not too expensive) or a course in first aid or something. There's plenty of options:)
